CTT Bauma Moscow Shows Growing Optimism in Russian Construction Market

The CTT Bauma trade show is main event of construction industry in Russia. Since 2017 it’s owned and operated by Messe Munich. The show was conducted this year in Moscow May 25-28 in its usual place, the Crocus Expocenter. Last year, the fair was off because of the COVID pandemic, but this year we saw that both the exhibition and construction industries are showing a growing trend. The fair’s indoor exposition was restored to three pavilions, and the outdoor exposition also grew in size versus 2019. There were 351 exhibitors from 17 countries, somewhat better than last time. A total of 184 brands were represented.

Here is, however, one unpleasant factor. Most of the international OEMs did not participate in the fair this time. Wirtgen, Volvo, Cummins, Caterpillar, Ammann, Hyundai, Renault, Komatsu machines were missing from this fair. John Deere, Doosan, Kato, and some other brands were limited, having only small booths, set by the local dealers. Many Russian machine makers, who usually participate in the fair, also ignored the event. Among them – GAZ, Chetra, DST-10, Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, YAMZ.

GAZ Increased LCV Production by 19% in Q1 2021

The GAZ plant in Nizhny Novgorod has made 11,300 LCVs in Q1 2021, according to the Trade Ministry of Russia. That’s 18.7% higher than the same period of last year. HD truck production by the GAZ Group increased by 29% in Q1 2021, from 1,700 to 2,200 units.

In total, according to the Russian Statistic bureau “Rosstat”, production growth of Russian on-highway vehicles increased by 13.7%. OEMs have made 402,800 units. LCV output has grown by 37.7%, trucks by 27.1%, and passenger cars by 12.1%.

Russian AG Machinery Exports Double in Q1 2021

Exports of Russian AG machines more than doubled in Q1 2021 versus the same period in 2020; exports have reached US$ 53 million (3.9 billion rubles).

Rosspetsmash, the Russian Association of Manufacturers, notes that Russian OEMs showed record high figures for 2020, reaching US$ 214 million (15.9 billion rubles). For Q1 2021, Russian AG machines were shipped to 23 countries. Exports of AWD tractors are up by 2.8 times, and combines, by 46%. The exports to Germany have increased by five times, to Bulgaria by 65%, and to Poland by 49%.

Pandemic Reduces Moscow 2021 Oil and Gas Show

MOSCOW–The recently-completed Neftegaz (the International Exhibition for Equipment and Technologies for Oil and Gas Industries) trade show held at the Moscow Expocenter was smaller than in the past. This fair is conducted every two years and is a largest local event in the oil and gas industry. This year’s fair was held April 26-29.

It’s a small trade show, and it was even this year than in past years. The number of participants was down from 550 to about 400 companies representing 18 countries. The largest delegations (besides Russia itself) were presented by Germany and China. Germany has set national expositions on the fair.

Rosatom Eyes Battery Production for Electric Cars in 2025

OOO Renera, subsidiary of Rosatom, has purchased Enertech International, a South Korean company.

According to the signed agreement, Li-Ion accumulator batteries and related power systems will be produced in Russia. It’s expected that production will be started in 2025, and in 2030 the plant capacity will be increased to minimum 2 GWt*hr

The batteries will be installed in trucks, buses and special machines.

Uralmash Sets Deal of US$ 322 Million with India

Uralmash (a subsidiary of UZTM-Kartex) has signed its largest deal in the last 30 years. UZTM-Kartex and Coal India Ltd Binay Dayal have signed a contract totaling US$ 322 million for walking excavators, according to the company.

Under the contract, the Uralmash plant will deliver five electric-powered walking excavators of increased power – ESH24.95 and will perform assembly of the equipment on the customer’s site. The OEM also will service machines for 11 years.

Sales of Russian GAZ Trucks Started in Australia

Local dealers have received all-terrain trucks Sadko Next built especially for the local market with altered steering wheel and pedals and with different optics.

The AAV company from Brisbane has become a distributor of GAZ. The model has been introduced in local market under the name GAZ Track Master 4×4.

Tech specs of the Australian version of the truck are identical to its Russian version. It has 4.4 liter turbo-diesel of 150hp. It works with 5-step manual transmission and a transfer case, operated from the head panel. Basic options included cruise-control, air conditioner, multi-media system, snorkel and electric winch. Vehicle can move 2500 kg of cargo.

The cost of a truck is 90,000 Australian dollars, 40% more than in Russia. According to the local distributor, closest competitor price starts at AUD 120 000.

KAMAZ Net Profit Exceeds US$ 20 Million

KAMAZ has reported a net profit of (more than US$ 20 million (1545 million Rubles) for 2020. KAMAZ reported revenue for 2020 of US$ 2.47 billion (185.8 billion Rubles), an increase of more than 16% over 2019. This growth is based on domestic truck sales, the introduction of the K5 range, and an increase in bus and electric bus sales.

Despite the COVID pandemic, in 2020 KAMAZ secured positions in the market and has claimed the status of leading Russian heavy vehicles supplier. The company claims a leader position in the 14+ ton truck market in Russia with a share of 47.5%, up 3.3% over 2019.

Mining World Moscow 2021 Reopens Without Major Exhibitors

 MOSCOW (April 21, 2021)–After only a seven-month break, the Mining World Russia trade show has started again, without many major exhibitors. The last Mining World event was conducted in October 2020.

This year’s fair started April 20 in the same place – the Crocus Expo Center Moscow. There were no significant changes since the last event. The amount of occupied space was similar, and the number of participants was about the same (167 companies versus 176 last time).

However, the number of countries has increased significantly – to 20. There were exhibitors from Australia, USA, Canada, U.K., India, China and so on. Large machine samples, including crawler drills, have been brought by Turkish companies. Germany is presenting a national exposition at the fair (in spite of pessimistic announcements made by German top officials regarding coal mining recently). Belorussian Belaz also presented at the show.

Production of Diesel Engines Started in Kaluga

PSMA Rus plant, located in Kaluga, Russia, has made first testing sample of ned DV6 motor.

First engine was produced in February. Engine production in the plant was set according to obligations for product localization, written in the contract with Russian government.

Turbocharged DV6-EL engines have 1,6-liter volume. They will be set to LCV models, produced on Kaluga’s plant.

PSMA plant in Kaluga makes Peugeot, Citroen, Mitsubishi cars for Russian market. The production started in 2010.
